- Abstract
- alpha-Al2O3 hollow fibers (AlHF)-supported TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by a single dip-coating process. In order to tentatively improve the adhesion strength of TiO2 photocatalysts on the surface of microstructured AlHFs, the use of an adhesion promoter as a Silica-based binder (SBB) was further studied. TiO2 powders, as well as AlHF-supported TiO2 and SBB AlHF-supported TiO2 photocatalysts, were investigated for the photo degradation of the Methylene Blue (MB) under UV irradiation. MB was selected as a model of organic pollutant. AlHF-supported TiO2 photocatalysts show higher photo-catalytic activity than TiO2 powders. Best performance was achieved with an SBB AlHF-supported TiO2 photocatalysts, whereby a degradation ratio of about 65% was obtained.
