- Abstract
- Conor McPherson has produced an extraordinary body of work over the last two decades and more. This paper focuses on the Locality of Dublin, which appeared in Connor McPherson's play, The Night Alive, and explores how he depicts the changed life in the EU era in the relationship between the city and the human being. To give a rough reference to McPherson's theatrical attempts to implement his artistic intentions, first, the use of monologues and supernatural elements, which are representative features of Irish theater in terms of dramatic form, and second thematic aspects include interest in individual alienation and ethics. McPherson's work, which deals with historical and supernatural content, is about the present and future as well as the past of Ireland. As a result, McPherson shows that the collapse of the Irish economy and the entry of transnationalism have lost the moral trust of traditional churches and nations, and a new level of secular morality must fill their void.
