Abstract
A series of one-side closed Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-delta (BSCF) hollow fiber membrane decorated with Sm/Sr co-doped ceria (SSDC) with Ce-0.8(Sm1-xSrx)(0.2)O2-delta compositions have been studied as a function of strontium content (x = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7) for high temperature vacuum driven oxygen separation from air. The oxygen permeation flux of all SSDC-decorated BSCF hollow fiber membranes is higher than that decorated with Sm-doped ceria (SDC, x = 0.0). The BSCF hollow fiber membrane decorated with SSDC with Sr content x = 0.5 exhibits the highest among the series (8 mL/cm(2)min, 950 degrees C), which can be mainly ascribed to the increase of oxygen vacancies for the surface exchange reaction.
