- 복강경 수술 또는 로봇수술에서 환자의 머리를 아래로 기울이는 트렌델레버그 자세를 장시간 취함에 따라 상완신경총 손상이 종종 발생하며 수술 후 팔의 마비와 감각 이상의 합병증으로 곤란을 겪게 되는 문제를 미리 예방하여 발생을 줄이고자 함.
