- Abstract
- Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second common type of cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related mortalities around the world. However, clinical stage of therapeutics, diagnosis, and level of treatment options are still limited, which warrants an immediate need to develop novel drugs to improve therapeutic effects and survival rate of HCC. This leads to the generation of nanomedicine. Moreover, phytonanomedicine is the fast-growing formulations in nanotechnology field that offers countless possibilities to design drugs at nanoscale with its unique properties. Phytonanomedicine allows scientists to prepare different methods of drug delivery that are used in multiple ways such as diagnosis, imaging, and treatment. This chapter covers the characteristic of HCC, role of nanomedicine in HCC treatment including nanoparticle (NP) properties, and the importance of nanocarriers in drug delivery. It also highlights the role of phytochemicals with NPs therapy in HCC. © 2022 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
