- Abstract
- 경찰임파워먼트에 관련한 수많은 연구들이 경찰조직에 대한 시민의 인식에 따라 경찰활동에 대한 시민의 참여와 협력의 정도가 변화할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 이 연구도 경찰임파워먼트와 관련한 연구로서 시민의 경찰에 대한 신뢰와 경찰역할에 대한 인식이 경찰임파워먼트에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구를 수행하기 위해 서울시민 543명에게 설문조사를 하여 자료를 수집 및 분석하였다. 분석결과 시민의 경찰에 대한 신뢰가 높아질수록 경찰임파워먼트가 넓어진다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만 이번 연구에서는 조절변수로 설정됐던 시민들의 경찰역할에 대한 인식은 경찰임파워먼트에 미치는 영향을 확인할 수 없었다. 최근 연구에서 경찰역할인식이 경찰가시성의 조절변수로서 범죄두려움에 영향을 미친다는 것과는 다른 결과였다. 이는 시민들의 경찰역할에 대한 인식이 규범적인 측면에서 경찰에 미치는 영향과 경찰의 기능적인 측면에서 미치는 영향이 다를 수 있다는 것을 방증한다.
