- Abstract
- This paper reviewed available literature on the immigration policies governing international students in South Korea and three international students recruiting OECD countries(United States of America, United Kingdom, Australia). In particular, the researcher compared visa requirements, scholarship grants, and social integration programs of the United States, United Kingdom and Australia with that of South Korea. It is the aim of this paper to benchmark policies and social integration programs which may benefit international students in South Korea.
Aside from the migration requirements of these countries, a glimpse of the concerns of international students was done in order to make recommendations for further improvement of the quality of experience of international students in having at least basic knowledge about the host country prior to admission, eliminating biases and prejudices in order to lessen, if not eliminate, cases of discrimination by social integration programs, having language proficiency, considering religious requirements and offering job information.
