Abstract
To overcome the use of toxic chemicals and harsh experimental conditions for the preparation of nanomaterials, there is a need to develop environmentally friendly experimental protocols by employing the biopolymers with metal nanostructures. To address this issue the polysaccharide covered palladium-platinum (PdPt) nanostructure are prepared with fenugreek seed extract. The phase purity and crystallinity of prepared PdPt nanostructure were analysed through the X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The morphological features were determined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The SEM analysis indicated that the size of the particles is in the order of 2–5 µm and pores of 100–200 nm are also observed. The chemical composition and oxidation states of prepared structures were investigated through the x-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) analysis. As a proof-of-concept the catalytic behaviour of PdPt structures were studied through Suzuki coupling reaction to obtain biaryl compounds (yield 94 %). Hence, the reported sustainable protocol can be employed in the preparation of industrially important catalytic system. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.
