Abstract
A condensation chemical reaction was employed to from the Schiff base ligand and its lanthanide doped metal complexes. The synthesized ligand and metal complexes were extensively used as antibacterial agents versus Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus pathogens. Schiff-praseodymium (Schiff-Pr) complex showed the improved antibacterial properties against the both pathogens among the other synthesized complexes. The synthesized Schiff-Pr metal complexes produced the significant anticancer activity against the cervical and human breast cancer cell lines. Chemically stained Schiff-Pr metal complex surfaces treated against cancer cells exhibited strong metal ion affinity with cell walls, leading to deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation and arresting cell propagation.
