- Abstract
- This study focuses on investigating the effect of parental attachment and smart phone use onthe adaptation to college of college freshmen. The participants were 417 male and femalestudents of D university for whom the scales of student adaptation to college, parentalattachment and smart phone addiction were measured. The results of the correlation analysisindicated that parental attachment and student adaptation to college were positively related andsmart phone addiction and student adaptation to college were negatively related. The multipleregression results indicated that the alienation of parental attachment had significant effects onthe academic adjustment and social adaptation of the student when it came to their adaptation tocollege. Smart phone addiction had significant effects on only the academic adjustment of thestudent when it came to their adaptation to college. The results of this study showed that smartphone addiction had more significant effects on the academic adjustment of the student when itcame to their adaptation to college than parental attachment did.
