- Abstract
- Recently, with the rapid upturn in IT development, smart devices started to appear. Smart devices provide many services with which users interact through a touch screen. For instance, smartphones, which are the most representative devices, are able to perform diverse functions comparable to desktop PCs, thereby providing convenience to many people and the ability to use them wherever and whenever they want. However, many touches and movements are required for character inputs and the touch recognition elements of touch screens that are not high pressure types involve great inconvenience for disabled persons or patients who cannot use their fingers properly, as they cannot input the appropriate characters. Therefore, this paper proposes a virtual keyboard using a gyro sensor (VG), which is an efficient character input keypad, for NUI(Natural User Interface). © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
