- Abstract
- In 2010~2011, evaluation of the historical science in Colonial Korea was critically examined. The intellectual discourses of historiography in contemporary are found at historical studies of Gaya(加耶). Those is not popular, while studies of Koguryo(高句麗) and Palhea(渤海) are thriving as well. The ports for foreign trade of Geumgwan Gaya were possibly located in areas far from the chiefs' palaces. It suggests a policy of neutral external trade ports. Debates regarding the issue of how to perceive the ancient period of korea were initiated and is underway. The Samguksagi and the Samgukyusa are the most important primary sources we have on ancient Korean history, and have been analyzed. Studies on the status and characteristic of those data continued as well. On the other hand, wooden documents, new discoveries of literary data, and new historical materials were excavated and examined, while Studies on the Area of Korean Ancient History continued as well. Until now, a number of wooden documents that we can recognize characters on it is about 600. It is not a large number. But They are very valuable historical materials in the study of ancient history. So many studies have been performed on them. And there have been many achievements. Research of structure of ancient Capital city, Restoration of system, such as Yul-Ryeong(律令) and local ruling system, and understanding of the international exchange through comparison with Japan wooden documents are major achievements.
