茶禪一味가 한국 禪茶에 미친 영향

A Study on the Origins of the Concept of Daseon Ilmi in Korean Zen Tea Culture

초록

This paper examines the origins and developmental processes of the concept of daseon ilmi(茶禪一味) within the history of Chinese tea culture, focusing on its influence on Korean Seoncha from a historical perspective. To this end, the study explores the close relationship between tea and Zen Buddhism, particularly centered on Gangseo Castle. The foundational philosophy that elevated the act of tea drinking into an everyday practice of enlightenment lies in Mazu’s doctrine of Ordinary mind is the Way The Zen koan, Have a cup of tea Huatous from Master Zhao Zhou, which represents Mazu's philosophy, became always a drank tea in Zen daily life. This eventually led to the emergence of the term daseon ilmi by Won Oh Geuk Geun. The origins of daseon ilmi in Korean Seoncha can be traced from two perspectives. First, the Gangseo Castle of China, which had the greatest influence on Korean tea culture, saw the concurrent introduction and development of Zen and tea. First, the transmission of Mazu’s tea tradition to Silla and Second, two theories are explored: the connection of Mazu’s Seoncha to the Linji Yixuan tradition of China. The latter included the dharma lineage of Seogogcheonggong, which led to the tea lineage at Daedunsa Temple. The study further examines the daseon ilmi philosophy as represented in the tea practices of Cheongheo, the initiator of the tea culture at Haenam Daeheungsa Temple, along with the 12th-generation monk Yeondam Yuil and the 13th-generation monk Choeui Eui-soon. In identifying the origins of daseon ilmi in Korean Seoncha, the study confirms the deep connections between the Zen lineage transmission, the meditation sites of Korean monks who founded the Nine Seon Schools during the Silla period, and Korean tea culture. It also observes how the relationships among these Zen monks were reflected in the acceptance, development, and inheritance of the Zen tradition. Furthermore, it highlights how the traditional Zen lineage of the Linji Yixuan school was transmitted to the tea saint Choeui and flourished as the tea culture of Daeheungsa Temple.
