범죄 예방을 위한 공공 CCTV 증설 인식 연구 : 보호동기이론의 적용을 중심으로

This study is to explore the factors influencing residents’ positive perception of ‘public CCTV installation expansion’, an important element of the future security environment. As CCTV is gradually advanced and intelligent due to the development of ICT technology, it is possible to give some residents negative perceptions such as invasion of privacy by CCTV and abuse of the government’s surveillance authority in the future. Accordingly, the protection motivation theory was applied to analyze the factors affecting the perception of CCTV expansion. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the more “crime damage experience” and the greater the “fear of safety” in relation to the “risk assessment” factor, the more positive the recognition of public CCTV expansion. In order to continuously expand public CCTV for the purpose of establishing a safe security environment in the future, it is necessary to emphasize equipment performance or security budget reduction, and to present practical crime suppression effects by installing public CCTV. In addition, this study confirmed the possibility that the theory of protection motivation can be used in the field of criminology.
