Facile synthesis of CdO/CdFe2O4/MWCNT nanocomposite for aqueous hybrid supercapacitor

In the present report, CdO/CdFe2O4 nanoflakes are synthesized by simplest co-precipitation process. Prepared CdO/CdFe2O4 nanomaterial is investigated by various characterization techniques and discussed. The energy band gaps of 2.91 and 1.96 eV of CdO/CdFe2O4 are obtained by UV-visible spectroscopy. Furthermore, CdO/ CdFe2O4 nanomaterial is used for supercapacitor and, capacitance of 607 F g- 1 is received at 1 A g- 1. Specific capacitance of CdO/CdFe2O4 nanoflakes is found to be higher from CdO (322 F g- 1) and CdFe2O4 (494 F g- 1). Capacitance of CdO/CdFe2O4 is further improved by adding the small amount of MWCNTs and, enhanced capacitance of 803 F g- 1 is received from CdO/CdFe2O4/MWCNT nanocomposite at 1 A g- 1. Moreover, hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) is assembled by CdO/CdFe2O4/MWCNT and activated carbon (AC). CdO/CdFe2O4/ MWCNT//AC delivers the high energy density of 32.50 W h kg- 1 with the power density of 750 W kg- 1. Further, five light-emitting diodes (LEDs), toy motor fan and kitchen timer are functionalized separately by series connected two CdO/CdFe2O4/MWCNT//AC hybrid supercapacitors.
