1인 가구의 범죄두려움에 관한 연구: 경찰신뢰의 매개효과를 중심으로

This study aims to examine how poor housing conditions and psychological isolation in single-person households affect fear of crime and to verify the mediating effect of the variable of police trust. The analysis found that the independent variables—poor housing conditions, psychological isolation, and low police trust—had a statistically significant effect in increasing fear of crime. In the analysis of the mediating effect of police trust, it was found that poorer housing conditions were associated with lower levels of police trust, and that lower police trust, in turn, increased fear of crime, confirming the existence of a mediating effect. However, between psychological isolation and fear of crime, the police trust variable did not show a statistically significant mediating effect. Therefore, police crime prevention policies targeting single-person households should be specifically tailored to those with poor housing conditions. This discussion extends existing perspectives on social disorganization and vulnerability by presenting the need for strategies that provide prompt responses to reports and instill confidence in case handling for those in poor housing environments. On the other hand, for single-person households experiencing psychological isolation, the study suggests the necessity of implementing community-oriented policing strategies—such as participatory crime prevention activities and area-based patrols—that foster community ties with residents.
