초록

Recent climate change and increased heavy rainfall events have led to a rise in cut slope failures. Furthermore, the natural aging of previously built highway infrastructure and the sheer increase in highway construction add to this recent pressure for improved maintenance methods. Currently, slope safety is assessed according to a 12-criteria system by the Korea Authority of Land and Infrastructure Safety (KALIS). This study aims to review the reliability of this assessment by selecting pilot sections according to historical slope collapse and traffic volume, and examining their respective slope risk assessments. We distinguish two main perspectives in analyzing the reliability of slope risk assessment. The first looks at uncertainties that rise from the ambiguity of the evaluation criteria and the qualitative nature of these judgments. The second questions the appropriateness of the scoring system, which calculates a comprehensive score using a simple arithmetic mean and assigns risk grades accordingly. Using the Pearson Correlation Coefficient for statistical evaluation and the Relief-F Feature Selection method for importance analysis, this study quantifies the flaws in the assessment criteria and the scoring system.
