AI 시대에도 참여는 필요한가: “참여형 AI”에 대한 논의를 중심으로

초록

This paper examines the issue of participation in the AI ​​era theoretically. First, it examines the origin and development of participatory research on science and technology centered on the discussion of STS, and examines the duality of participation due to the emergence of digital technology. Second, it asks about the necessity of participation in the AI ​​era through participatory AI. It examines the background of the emergence of participatory AI, its historical and technological origins, and major cases that symbolically show the significance of participation in the design and development of AI systems. In addition, it classifies participatory AI into types according to the forms, methods, and purposes of participation, thereby deriving characteristic elements that appear in the spectrum of participation. Third, in line with the need to deepen the discussion on participatory AI, we address issues that should be noted in the relationship between AI and participation. To this end, we refer to studies that seek to extend the perspectives and approaches of STS and social science to AI.
