초록

This study conceptualizes Coaching Intelligence as a foundational construct that enables the social diffusion and cultural embedding of coaching, and aims to explore its theoretical structure and academic positioning. To achieve this, a PRISMA-based literature selection process and a narrative overview approach were employed to examine the definition of Coaching Intelligence, its conceptual linkages with related constructs such as coaching competency and emotional intelligence (EI), and its practical implications. The analysis revealed that Coaching Intelligence cannot be reduced to coaching competencies or emotional intelligence; rather, it functions as a complex and integrative system of enactment. It represents a higher-order performance capacity that emerges when the cognitive, emotional, and practical elements required in coaching—such as emotional sensitivity, self-reflection, relational attunement, and strategic intervention—operate concurrently. Moreover, Coaching Intelligence was found to be developmental rather than fixed, expanding progressively through experience and reflective practice. This suggests its value as a foundational criterion for coach education, competency assessment, and supervision frameworks. While Coaching Intelligence shares certain underlying features with emotional intelligence, this study proposes that it constitutes a broader enactive framework encompassing both the being-mode and doing-mode of coaching. Future empirical work that validates its structural components and examines its relationship with organizational coaching culture may further establish Coaching Intelligence as a critical construct contributing not only to coaching professionalism but also to cultural formation within organizations.
