「신라촌락문서」의 貫甲과 牛馬
초록
This paper examines the “Guan-gob (貫甲)” described in the Silla Village Documents. Analysis of various records revealed that the “Guan-gob (貫甲)” described in the document was armor made of leather. At the time the document was written, “Guan-gob (貫甲)” was provided to adult males in Silla. Afterwards, when the “Guan-gob (貫甲)” stored in village A (沙害漸村) became old and could no longer be used as armor, the local government disposed of it and sold it. In other words, the ownership of “Guan-gob (貫甲)” and the authority to dispose of it belonged to the local government, not to adult men. In this respect, it has been confirmed that it is difficult to accept the view that most of the cattle and horses owned in the village are owned by farmers, based on the fact that there are reports of cattle and horses being sold in the Silla Village Documents. As a type of leather product, “Guan-gob (貫甲)” had value as a commodity, and it is presumed that the “Guan-gob (貫甲)” sold was dismantled and the leather was recycled. The villages in the Silla Village Documents, which received special administrative support from the state, was rich in cattle and horses. This was the background in which leather armor, described as “Guan-gob (貫甲)” was issued even to ordinary adult men performing military service.
