京都學派의 藩鎭論

Kyoto School’ Perspectives on the Provincial Commands
  • 정병준

초록

內藤湖南(Naito Konan) and 宮崎市定(Miyazaki Ichisada)’s perspective on the Provincial Commands(藩鎭) is closely related to their respective theory of periodization. 內藤(Naito) argued that the age of late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, when the Commands were established, was transition period between the Middle Age and the Early Modern China, and that the Commands led to the collapse of aristocracy and soldiers from the common man could hold the real power. Meanwhile, 宮崎(Miyazaki) interpreted the period from the Three Kingdoms to the Five Dynasties as the Middle Age and did not set a transition period. He thought that the Commands was medieval. His perspective is different in the sense that I interpret the Commands Age as distinct from before and after. In this respect, my view is similar to 內藤(Naito)’s analysis in that he set a trnasition period. But, my interpretation that the Commands Age had the continuity with the period of before and after is different from 內藤(Naito)’s viewpoint on the Tang-Song transition period. In short, I think that it is difficult for the periodization of the Kyoto School to fully explain debates over the Provincial Commands.
