빈곤 청년이 가지는 취약성의 본질 탐구 - 빈곤 청년의 집단 특성별 다차원적 빈곤 현황 분석을 바탕으로 -

초록

This study focuses on impoverished youth and explores the nature of vulnerability among them. There has been continuous discussion and social interest in the challenges faced by the youth generation, but discussions and interest regarding impoverished youth, who may be the most vulnerable among youth groups, have been relatively overlooked. This study analyzed the characteristics of 1,750 youths who participate in the Youth Tomorrow Saving Account below 50% of the median income from a multidimensional poverty perspective by age, education level, household type, and family care. The study results indicate that low-income youths are more vulnerable in multiple dimensions as they get older, have lower levels of education, live with parents, a spouse, or children compared to living alone, and have caregiving responsibilities compared to those without caregiving families. Additionally, among types of cohabiting households, those living with a spouse or children were generally more vulnerable compared to those living with parents. Furthermore, in terms of caregiving family types, caregiving for children was overall more vulnerable compared to caregiving for one's original family. These results reveal the vulnerabilities of older youths, youths with low education, family care, and cohabiting with families, and imply that the impoverished youths need to be approached with considering the characteristics of both 'poverty' and 'youth'. The study proposes policy and practical implications based on study results.
