Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) is a unique, 'cold' machining process. The process uses a fine-bore nozzle to form a coherent, high velocity jet, which has a pressure up to 400 MPa and a velocity of up to 1000 m/s. Compared with other machining technologies, AWJM has the following advantages: no thermal distortion, high flexibility, high machining versatility and small machining force. The effects of processing parameters on machined surfaces which are analyzed and summarized. This review article is intended to highlight and categorize the machining performance of the materials on machining with AWJM process. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
