The Impact of Job Characteristics on Organizational Commitment in Police Special Operations Unit : Focusing on the mediating effect of job stress

초록

This study examines the mediating effect of job stress on the effect of job characteristics on organizational commitment among Police Special Operations Unit officers. In this study, 120 units of the PSOU from Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Gyeonggi South, Gyeonggi North, Chungnam, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk were measured using the Job Characteristics Scale, Organizational Commitment Scale, and Job Stress Scale. The data collected were analysed using frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Baron and Kenny's three-stage hierarchical regression and Sobel's test method. The results of the analysis show that there was a correlation between job characteristics, job stress and job characteristics influenced positively on job stress and organizational commitment. job stress influenced negatively on organizational commitment and partially mediated in the relationship between job characteristics and organizational commitment. Based on this, it was suggested to improve organizational commitment by institutionally reducing job stress and developing programs to understand job characteristics. The implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
