월남사지 삼층석탑 발견 청동병의 기형적 원류와 제작시기
초록
The bronze bottle found at the three-story stone pagoda of the Wolnamsa temple site in 2017 is a long-neck bottle with a trumpet-shaped foot, a rounded shoulder line, and a recessed neck. Examination of its morphological characteristics and origins reveals that this type of long-neck bottle first appeared in China during the Southern and Northern Dynasties period, around the first half of the 6th century, and was used even during the Tang Dynasty. Furthermore, it is believed that this kind of bottle influenced neighboring countries like Korea and Japan, which also adopted similarly shaped long-stemmed bottles. Considering the production dates of the Tang-era bronze bottle and the bronze water bottle, a tribute treasure from Horyuji in Japan, the bronze bottle discovered at the three-story stone pagoda of the Wolnamsa temple site is believed to have been produced as early as the late 7th century or at the latest around the first half of the 8th century. While there is no consensus on the construction date of the three-story stone pagoda at Wolnamsa temple Site, it differs by at least a century from the bronze bottle, suggesting that this bronze bottle was used as a sarira container during the pagoda's construction. Notably, the circular sarira hole at the bottom of the three-story pagoda's body during dismantling and repairs was likely designed with this bottle in mind, and the holes in the bronze bottle's body are thought to have been intended for additional sarira ornaments. Furthermore, this bronze bottle is believed to be associated with the founding of Wolnamsa Temple.
