A Study on the Acceptance Aesthetics of the Cartoon Hong Lou Meng

초록

Hong Lou Meng is a work that shows the impermanence of life and deep reflection on life, and readers receive infinite emotion every time they read Hong Lou Meng. Cao Xueqin expresses his experiences in writing, including metaphors and symbols in each description, and reading while discovering the hidden meaning in Hong Lou Meng gives readers pleasure. Because it can be interpreted in various ways, Hong Lou Meng is evaluated as an attractive classic. However, because the content is extensive and the number of characters is large, the book requires a long period of time to be savored slowly, and is not easy to read, especially for children or foreign readers. The role of an abbreviated version is important in helping to easily read the somewhat difficult book, and in Korea, various abbreviated versions and cartoons of the book were published. Hong Lou Meng, drawn as a cartoon, allows not only child readers but also adult readers to access Hong Lou Meng without burden. Cartoon comics are meaningful in that they can attract readers of various age groups, but in the process of condensing the story and expressing it with pictures, there are times when the meaning of the original work is distorted or transformed. Accordingly, we would like to analyze the problems that appeared in the process of drawing Hong Lou Meng into a cartoon and examine the way Chinese classics communicate with modern culture.
