플로리앙 젤레르 作 『아들(Le Fils)』 ‘소피아’ 역할창조 연구 - 수행적 특성 강화와 라반의 에포트 적용을 중심으로 -

Florian Zeller’s “Le Fils” delves into the psychology of its characters, focusing on the impact they have on each other within the context of family relationships. The play employs a dramatic structure where illusion and reality intersect, time and space converge, highlighting the characters’ psyches. Through the distortion and expansion of psychological realism, this play enhances the characters’ corporeality. The intention of this study is to identify performative attributes of “Le Fils” resonating with Fischer-Lichte’s performativity and to study the role creation of ‘Sofia’. Particularly, Rudolf von Laban’s ‘Effort’ is applied as an approach to deepen corporeality of the character ‘Sofia’ in the acting process. This involves analyzing the bodily movements that arise from the characters’ internal impulses, investigating ways to create roles by examining the interaction between psyche and body. Laban’s movement analysis contributes to the role-creation process in this production in the following ways. First, it provides a structured framework for objectively obtaining and analyzing information about characters’ bodies and movements through Laban’s well-categorized movement theories. Second, by incorporating Laban’s Effort actions, emphasizing the corporeality of actors highlights their phenomenological bodies. Third, intentional use of Effort actions enables actors to clearly express their intentions and objectives, vividly visualizing the significance of family depicted in “Le Fils”. This paper is significant in that the application of Laban’s movement theory in the character creation process of Sofia in Zeller’s “Le Fils”, constructing a character with performative qualities through an expanded range of movements.
