장애인 학대 피해의 영향요인 - 표적 적합성 이론을 중심으로 -

초록

This study aimed to identify the factors associated with abuse victimization among persons with disabilities. Previous research has primarily explained victimization through Routine Activity Theory, focusing on exposure to offenders and the absence of capable guardians. However, this perspective has limitations in explaining disability abuse, as such abuse frequently occurs within close interpersonal relationships, including family members, caregivers, and acquaintances. To address this limitation, the present study applied Target Congruence Theory and examined how target vulnerability and target antagonism influence the likelihood of abuse victimization among persons with disabilities. Data were drawn from the 2023 Survey on Persons with Disabilities conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. A total of 6,143 adults aged 18 years and older with disabilities were included in the analysis. Logistic regression analysis was employed to examine the relationship between abuse victimization and factors derived from Target Congruence Theory. The findings revealed that communication difficulties and social isolation, representing target vulnerability, significantly increased the likelihood of experiencing abuse. Furthermore, severe disability status and dependence in activities of daily living, representing target antagonism, were also found to be significant predictors of abuse victimization. These findings suggest that both vulnerability-related and dependence-related characteristics contribute to the risk of abuse among persons with disabilities. By extending the application of Target Congruence Theory to disability abuse victimization, this study provides a broader theoretical framework for understanding victimization risk and offers implications for the development of prevention and intervention strategies.
