스토리텔러로서 AI 연구 -시트콤 <사인필드>와 AI 패러디물 <낫씽, 포에버>의 내러티브 및 유머 담화 비교 분석을 중심으로-

초록

This study explores AI as a storyteller through a comparative analysis of the popular American sitcom Seinfeld and its AI-generated parody, Nothing, Forever. AI has become a major phenomenon in the arts, extending its influence beyond audiovisual technologies to creative domains once considered exclusively human. Cases such as films written solely by the AI system Benjamin and recognized at international film festivals demonstrate this trend. Released on Twitch, Nothing, Forever is an experimental project that continuously streams AI-generated sitcom episodes with minimal human intervention, highlighting the creative potential of AI. Moreover, it offers a valuable comparison with its human-created original, Seinfeld. To examine the prospects of AI as a storyteller, this study first reviews previous research on AI-generated works and sitcoms, focusing on the use of AI in the arts and the characteristics of the sitcom genre. It then compares Seinfeld and Nothing, Forever to investigate AI’s current role and capabilities as a storyteller. The findings reveal that Nothing, Forever imitates the basic narrative structure of sitcoms through continuous learning, but its humor relies largely on unusual word combinations. As a result, character identity and narrative motifs become weakened. These findings suggest both the possibilities and limitations of storyteller AI and indicate the need for further research.
