DMSP-OLS 야간조명 자료를 이용한 중국 장강 삼각주 지역불균등 발전의 시⋅공간적 역동성 추정

This study analyzed the spatio-temporal dynamics of regional uneven development at the county-level administrative unit in the Yangtze River Delta region of China using DMSP-OLS nighttime light data and Harmonized Nighttime Light Dataset. Previous studies on regional uneven development in China mainly focused on macro-scale spatial units such as provincial and prefectural administrative levels, thereby failing to adequately capture intra-regional disparities. To address this limitation, this study constructed a county-level GRDP estimation model. Major variables included nighttime light intensity, resident population, built-up land area, and the number of industrial employees. In particular, polynomial and log-transformed regression models were applied to reflect the nonlinear relationship between nighttime lights and economic activities. In addition, county-level GRDP was estimated using a weighted allocation method based on the official GRDP totals of prefectural administrative units. Furthermore, correction coefficients based on major function-oriented zone types were applied to reflect regional differences in industrial structure and development intensity. The results showed that nighttime light data had high explanatory power for GRDP estimation; however, as the exhibit increasing nonlinearity and spatial dependence. Spatial analysis also revealed that Jiangsu Province showed a pronounced spatial diffusion of economic growth, whereas Zhejiang Province maintained its existing coastal-oriented development structure, and Anhui Province continued to exhibit relatively low economic levels except for a few core cities. Therefore, this study demonstrates that spatial unevenness between core cities and peripheral regions has persisted and intensified even amid the deepening economic integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.
