다원주의 사회과학 모색 : 돌봄 연구의 한계를 초점으로

초록

Present is based on the understanding that a holistic understanding of a social phenomenon is challenged by limitations of uni-disciplinary approach. Thus, recognizing that social science is the study of society and interaction between individuals, the present study begins discussion by observing Deutsh’s identification of varying aims of human relationships. That is, this study is an exploratory study of pluralistic social science focusing on the different values actors aspire for within the same action, depending on the specific aim of a relationship. First, this paper examines the limitations of uni-disciplinary research using care studies as an example. Second, to go beyond said limitations, this study integrates four theories: varied aims of human relation and plural principles of distribution(Deutsch, 1975), three basic psychological needs(Ryan and Deci, 2018), pluralistic value produced by human behavior(Van Staveren, 2001), and lastly, plural loci for aims, needs, values(Polanyi, 2001). In this study, pluralism denotes value pluralism of thriving or ill-being of human life, rather than individual preference by liberalistic pluralism or cultural pluralism.
