Understanding Men’s Yoga Participation Intentions Based on the Model of Goal-Directed Behavior

초록

This study aimed to analyze men’s intentions to participate in yoga using the Model of Goal-Directed Behavior(MGB). The study subjects were men currently practicing yoga, aged 20 to 50 years or older. Data were collected online and offline for two months, starting on June 12, 2025. A total of 221 respondents were collected. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23 and AMOS. The results are as follows. First, attitudes, positive anticipated emotions, and negative anticipated emotions had significant effects on desire, whereas subjective norms and perceived behavioral control did not. Second, desire significantly influenced participation intentions. These results suggest that the MGB provides a useful framework for explaining men’s yoga participation intentions. Furthermore, to promote men’s engagement in yoga, it is essential not only to emphasize the physical benefits of practice but also to provide positive experiences, emotional satisfaction, and an accessible environment that encourages participation.
