자유 작문을 활용한 글쓰기 과정 탐색 : 중학생의 내용 생성 산물 선택 양상을 중심으로
Exploring the Writing Process through Free-Writing: Focusing on Middle School Students’ Selection Patterns in Idea Generation

초록
This study explores free-writing's cognitive and affective mechanisms in idea-generation by analyzing 33 middle school students’ text selection patterns. Thematic analysis and focused interviews revealed ten themes. Five selection patterns demonstrated how writing dialectically shapes cognition, highlighting students’ drive to position their authentic “inner voice.” Conversely, five non-selection patterns revealed free-writing’s function in cognitive offloading and affective regulation. Based on these findings, this study proposes pedagogical scaffolding to bridge the raw “self” and the constructed “writer,” repositioning free-writing as an active metacognitive tool.
