초록

This article is significant for its discovery of the relevance between Rahula chulga narrative and SeokBoSangJeol’s publication purpose, and also for its religious importance through Buddhism contrast and the great filial piety, which were revealed in both personal and universal aspects. Chulga narrative follows the flow developed from Buddhism scripture(諸經), and Rahula's decision to join the sangha shows the best advanced style through conflict and dramatic resolution caused by Ashodara's rejection. The conflict in chulga narrative is resolved through the great filial piety of Shakyamuni, the relief of common sorts in preparation for discord. Given the correlation between SeokBoSangJeol and Rahula narrative, although the publication of SeokBoSangJeol was motivated by the death of his mother, it developed into a great source that encompassed the people's Buddhist edification. The Rahula narrative was re-interpreted by the Grand Prince Suyang and functioned as a device for Buddhist life, which is the ultimate pursuit of Buddhist literature, proving itself as a requisite. In conclusion, it is confirmed that the meaning of Buddhism was created through the family conflict caused by chulga in Buddhist scripture literature. The ultimate value of Buddhist scripture literature is that the reader may apply it to one’s life through Buddhist scripture and finds oneself reborn as a religious human being, which is the new perspective this article represents.
