Subjectivity of an Army Soldier’s Group Coaching Experience

초록

The purpose of this study is to classify and examine the characteristics of the types of group coaching experiences perceived by army soldiers using Q methodology. For this, a Q population of 200 was formed through prior research and in-depth interviews, and subsequently, a Q sample of 40 items was extracted. Nineteen male army soldiers were selected as the P sample, and the Quanl program was used through the Q classification process, and a principal component analysis was conducted. As a result of the research, a total of four types were derived. Type 1 is a ‘Self-reflection pursuit type that values self-understanding’. Type 2 is a ‘Relationship-oriented type that values mutual understanding and relationships’. Type 3 is a ‘Growth-oriented type that pursues a sense of achievement’. Type 4 is a ‘Future-oriented type that pursues strategic planning’. Through this study, it is hoped that group coaching in the military can be actively accepted as an effective method to facilitate communication among army soldiers and to positively change army soldiers’ perceptions of military life. Follow-up research is needed to introduce military group coaching and to spread the coaching culture within the military organization.
