‘-었었-’의 단절 의미에 대한 실험 화용적 연구

초록

This study empirically examines, through a semantic judgment experiment, how the cessation meaning of the Korean marker -eoss-eoss- varies systematically across situation types, and identifies the environments in which this cessation meaning is interpreted. The analysis shows that in stative and activity situation types, a cessation meaning is inferred with both -eoss- and -eoss-eoss-. In contrast, in accomplishment and achievement situation types, unlike -eoss-, -eoss-eoss- gives rise to a cessation meaning, which restricts the interchangeability of the two forms. The results of the semantic judgment experiment further demonstrate that the cessation meaning of -eoss-eoss- is interpreted more strongly in accomplishment and achievement situation types, and that the differences in interpretation across situation types are statistically significant.
