초록
This study aims to explore an effective approach to Korean vocabulary education for Koryoin children residing in the CIS. Although Koryoin children are expected to acquire Korean as a second language within their bilingual environment, their actual proficiency in Korean remains markedly low. In response, this study designs and presents a Korean vocabulary education program that utilizes the familiar Russian folktale Kolobok (Колобок) as the main instructional material. The proposed program applies the Gradual Word Acquisition Model, which consists of three stages—declarative (pre-teaching) vocabulary, expanding (deepening) vocabulary, and applying (productive) vocabulary— and is organized into ten instructional sessions. Based on the narrative progression of the folktale, the program is structured into three learning domains: (1) background and character vocabulary learning, (2) event-based vocabulary learning, and (3) story reconstruction and cultural connection. Each session includes introduction and closure phases and is subdivided into the three vocabulary learning stages. This study is significant in that it proposes an affective and culture-integrated model of Korean vocabulary education that reflects the linguistic realities of Koryoin children.
