초록

This study critically reflects on the limitations of modern anthropocentrism in the face of the global climate crisis of the Anthropocene, and proposes coevolution and the relational theory of dependent co-arising (Pratītyasamutpāda) as alternatives. Under the premise that the crisis of the Anthropocene is not merely a climatic disaster but a crisis of the way humans perceive the world and relate to others, this paper examines the issue from two perspectives: the ‘axis of perception’ through literary imagination and the ‘axis of practice’ through civic solidarity. First, at the literary level, this study analyzes the characteristics of coevolution—where human and non-human beings permeate each other's boundaries and coexist—through contemporary Korean climate fiction. Through this, it identifies a perceptual shift via literary imagination, wherein humans step down from their status as exclusive sovereigns and become beings of ‘interconnectedness’ who share a common destiny with non-human others. At the practical level, by examining the animal rights movement of the Buddhist Environmental Movement Solidarity and the natural restoration process of the Gounsa Temple forest, this paper investigates how the ‘ecology of pausing’ forms relationships of coexistence within real-world time and space. In conclusion, this study emphasizes that the perceptual shift achieved through literary narrative imagination and the concrete practices of civil society are essential elements for a sustainable future. This holds academic significance in that it presents new humanistic alternatives and practices.
