초록

This study explores the factors influencing attitudes toward the acceptance of vigilantism, which is defined as the act of individuals or groups arbitrarily punishing rule violators outside the bounds of legal procedures. With the advent of digital technologies and social media, such behaviors have become more prevalent, as these platforms facilitate the dissemination of information and acts of retribution. The study identifies a significant positive correlation between trust in the criminal justice system and attitudes toward the acceptance of vigilantism. However, perceptions of the rationalization of law violations and the fairness of punishment did not significantly impact the acceptance of vigilantism. By investigating these variables, this study seeks to understand the underlying causes of the acceptance of vigilantism and to contribute to the development of both legal frameworks and social strategies to address this growing phenomenon.
