초록
In the late Joseon Dynasty, as Silhak became the dominant ideology of society and national religious movements spread among the people, the Buddhist community, which had suffered from the policy of promoting Confucianism and suppressing Buddhism, formed an economic community for revival and survival and worked to rebuild temples. In particular, efforts to recover private property confiscated by the state were added, and the foundation of the temple economy was laid. The expansion of temples also appeared in conflict with the common people, and many works of art were created that criticized and satirized monks who proselytized and begged for alms. The development of Buddhism in Joseon was fully reflected in pansori, but the perspectives and perceptions of Buddhism are very diverse depending on when pansori was formed. <Simcheongga> is a work based on Buddhist values and ideology, and the work is characterized by its development centered on the idea of reincarnation according to the Buddhist law of the 12-linked causality, and the subject matter of the work is also related to Buddhist tales. In the mid-Joseon period, when the policy of suppressing Buddhism reached its peak, the monks were depicted as singing beompae, dancing the butterfly dance, and performing rituals, as shown in <Chunhyangga>. After the Imjin and Qing invasions, the monks were depicted as monks with divine and heroic status, as shown in <Heungboga> and <Onggojipjeon>. In addition, in the late Joseon period, when the self-reliance through begging became an economic means and they were in conflict with the common people, the monks were depicted as deviant monks, as in <Byeongangsoega> and <Simcheongga>, or as monks who deceived the common people with sweet talk. Pansori is an art form of the common people and well-expressed the civic spirit of the period in which it was formed. Therefore, since pansori is not only a play of private narratives but also an art form expressed through rhythm and music, it is necessary to investigate how these private narratives are expressed musically through future research.
