언어의 몸짓 살펴보기: 한요셉의 소설 『핵가족』 타이포그래피 분석을 중심으로

This study focuses on the use of typography in the novel Nuclear Family, which conveys meaning in a novel way through experimental typography. The novel, acclaimed as the 2022 Book of the Year by Time and NPR, has been lauded as a "genius and original work" or "a novel that captivates from the first page" across different media platforms. In this study, the sections where typography was employed was extracted and analyzed to see how they contribute to the visual presentation and content. Through meticulous analysis, it becomes apparent that typography enriches reader engagement by visually portraying diverse situations, characters' psychological states, and the symbolic significance interwoven within the narrative. Conversely, the author strategically blocks or omits certain words to prompt readers to infer content and actively participate in interpreting the story. Consequently, the author enhances interaction with readers, encouraging them to engage actively in imagining the reading experience rather than passively accepting the narrative. Such analysis of content production cases that diverge from existing genre characteristics can contribute to the diversification of content production methods.
