잠재계층분석을 통한 도박행위자의 유형 분류 및 특성 연구

In the past five years, the number of gambling addiction patients in Korea has continued to increase, with the largest proportion in 2024 being among young adults in their 20s and 30s. The rate of gambling experience among adolescents and exposure to online illegal gambling are also rapidly expanding. Accordingly, the necessity of establishing a multi-layered support system—such as preventive education and early intervention—has been emphasized to address the social problems of gambling addiction. This study aimed to categorize high-risk groups for gambling addiction not simply by gambling behavior, but through a multidimensional approach to gambling actors. For this purpose, latent class analysis(LCA) was conducted using variables of mental health (depression), social support, and gambling behavior among adults with experience in online gambling industries. As a result, three groups were identified: Emotionally Stable-Gambling Reduction Group (36.6%), Moderate Depression-Partial Reduction Group (21.6%), and High-Risk Depression-Gambling Maintenance Group (41.8%). To verify the influence of gambling behavior types on gambling problem behavior, multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the statistical significance of the effects of gambling behavior type, illegal gambling participation, and sociodemographic characteristics on gambling problem behavior. The results showed that the risk of gambling problem behavior differed significantly by type according to mental health, social support, and gambling behavior, with the Moderate Depression-Partial Reduction Group and High-Risk Depression-Gambling Maintenance Group exhibiting higher levels of gambling problem behavior. Illegal gambling experience, low income, and being in their 30s were identified as statistically significant risk factors for gambling problem behavior. Based on these findings, the study suggests the necessity of establishing a multi-layered support system, including tailored prevention and treatment, early detection, and intervention according to the type of gambling problem behavior.
