사춘기 청소년들의 부모와의 대화에 관한 주관성 연구

A Study on the Subject of an Adolescent’s Conversation with Parents

초록

Background: Communication with family is crucial for a child's development. Communication occurs through dialogue, and dialogue happens through interaction. Earlier works has generally focused on the subjectivity of parents, but there is a lack of research on the subjectivity of adolescents from the perspective of the child who is the subject of the conversation. Purpose: The goal of this research is to better understand adolescents and provide parents with a useful tool for teaching about parent-adolescent communication through the creation of a parent education program. This will enable parents to better understand the types of perceptions and characteristics that their adolescent children have regarding parent-child communication. Methodology: Using the Q-methodology, a subjective research approach, a Q-population was created by conducting in-depth individual and group interviews with teenagers based on prior research with teenagers. A Q-sample of 40 questions was then retrieved. Purposive sampling was used to choose a P-sample of 29 adolescents, and the Quanl program was used to classify the Q-sample and examine the primary factors. Findings: Studies have distinguished four categories of views among adolescents. Type 1 is ‘Strongly Trusting’, where parent-child conversations are enjoyable, respectful, and demonstrate strong trust. Type 2 is ‘Respectful’, where they want their thoughts and feelings to be fully respected in parent-child conversations. Type 3 is ‘Supportive’, where they trust their parents' rational judgment and need to feel understood and emotionally supported. And Type 4 is ‘Empathic’, where they know their parents are attempting to respect and understand them but want full empathy for their feelings in conversations. Conclusions: First, adolescents need to talk to their parents. Second, adolescents need emotional respect, support, and empathy from their parents. And last, there is a gap between parental and child perceptions, which requires parent education to help parents understand adolescents and train them in parent-child coaching conversations.
