대학부설 한국어교육기관의 지속가능한 교재 개발 모델 사례 연구: D대학을 중심으로

초록

This study aims to analyze the sustainable textbook development model of a university-affiliated Korean language education institute through a concrete case and to identify its key characteristics. To this end, the research first examines the historical development of Korean language textbooks and then conducts a case study on the textbook development and revision process of D University’s Korean language education institute. D University, founded in 1906, launched its Korean language education program in 2002 and established a graduate major in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language in 2006, producing its first doctoral graduates in 2011. The university has ranked within the top ten for four consecutive years in the JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation and, as of 2024, recorded 1,013 foreign language learners, ranking 12th nationwide. The findings indicate that Korean language textbooks have evolved from grammar-translation-oriented materials to communicative, task-based, and digitally supported ones, while expanding to include integrated materials for academic-purpose learners. In particular, the case analysis of D University revealed four key features: (1) a field-based cyclical development system, (2) research-driven collaborative authorship, (3) transition to digital textbooks, and (4) linkage with academic-purpose Korean. Based on these results, the study suggests that textbook development in university-affiliated institutes should operate as a continuous and cyclical system that flexibly responds to learner needs and socio-technological changes rather than as a one-time product. This study holds both theoretical and practical significance in that it presents an empirically grounded model of sustainable textbook development and offers concrete implications for the field of Korean language education.
