Exposure to Harmful Content Types and Cyberbullying Perpetration among Children and Adolescents -Latent Profiles of Harmful Content Exposure Experiences by School Grade-

초록

This study aims to assess whether the experience of exposure to harmful content among children and adolescents can be a predictor of cyberbullying perpetration. Utilizing Latent Profile Analysis(LPA) to form latent types based on individuals or school grades, we classified the types of harmful content exposure and validated their impact on cyberbullying perpetration. Data from the "2022 Cyberbullying Survey" conducted by the Korea Communications Commission and the National Information Society Agency was used. The analysis involved both Latent Profile Analysis(LPA) and multiple regression analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the types of harmful content exposure varied among different school grades, indicating the need for differentiated strategies for managing harmful content at each grade level. Second, the 'High-Level' or 'Low Illegality, High Ineffectiveness' types of harmful content exposure in all school grades strongly predicted cyberbullying perpetration compared to the 'Low-Level' type. Based on these findings, effective preventive measures, especially those targeting the reduction of derogatory content exposure among children and adolescents, are proposed.
