초록
This study systematically explored the concept, core components, application areas, and expected effects of art-based art coaching through an integrative literature review. Following the five-stage procedure of Whittemore and Knafl (2005), literature published between 2015 and November 11, 2025, was collected and evaluated from RISS (Korea) and Google Scholar (international). Ultimately, 19 papers (7 domestic and 12 international) were selected for analysis. The results of this study conceptualized art-based art coaching as a coaching process that facilitates non-verbal and symbolic expression and connects reflection with action by integrating art creation experiences with coaching dialogues and questions. The findings identified four core components: the mediating property of art media, symbolization and externalization, reflection through coaching questions, and the experience of art creation. This approach was confirmed to be widely applicable across various domains, including business/leadership, life, career/identity, and life-cycle support. Furthermore, expected effects were synthesized into cognitive/reflective, emotional, and behavioral/practical dimensions. This study suggests the potential for art-based art coaching to expand beyond a healing-centered approach into a growth-oriented professional domain. It recommends future empirical research to develop application models tailored to the domestic context and verify their effectiveness.
