초록

This study explores the perceptions of South Korean military officers regarding counseling and the institutional support needed to enhance its effectiveness. Using Q methodology, 24 military academy disciplinarians sorted 40 statements derived from research and interviews. Factor analysis identified three perception types. Type 1, the Leader Who Values Communication and Trust, sees counseling as essential for building trust and leadership. Type 2, the Realist Who Acknowledges Counseling's Role but Sees Limitations, values counseling but prioritizes mission readiness, citing limited time and institutional support. Type 3, the Partner Who Grows Through Counseling, emphasizes mutual growth through the counseling process. These findings highlight varying views on the role, challenges, and impact of counseling. Understanding these differences can inform policy improvements and support structures to strengthen leadership and unit cohesion in South Korea.
