초록
The baby boomers, who currently make up the majority of people in their 60s, are full of vitality and the ability and will to continue working after the retirement age. In the age of 100, 60 is no different from the middle-aged in the past. Therefore, the current retirement age of 60 does not fit the reality and must be extended in order to link the national pension age (63 years old in 2024). In the long run, the government may consider abolishing the retirement age. Strictly speaking, the retirement age is discrimination based on age in that it forces retirement when a certain age is reached despite the ability and willingness to work. However, since it is premature to abolish the retirement age immediately, it is necessary to raise the retirement age in connection with the national pension age, and give full incentives to companies that continue to hire or rehire the elderly after the retirement age. It is also necessary to change the social atmosphere of stigmatizing the working senior as ‘greedy’ elderly who erode young people’s jobs. Rather, it is necessary to instill awareness that working on one’s own and economically self-reliance regardless of age is a diligent and sincere attitude that does not burden future generations and the state. In other words, the government should take the lead in creating this atmosphere, along with the extension of the retirement age, by eliminating the work practice of baseless discrimination against the elderly
