초록

This study used the Q methodology to classify the types of subjective perceptions of college students regarding independence from their parents and to examine the characteristics of each type in detail. Using the Q methodology, the Q sample was confirmed to be 40 statements through prior research, surveys, and in-depth interviews. The P sample comprised first to fourth year college students. After running the Q classification and coding according to the statement numbers, the results were analyzed for key factors using the QUANL program. A total of four types were derived, with the first type being 'college students who pursue realistic independence from their parents' which included those who have ideal values about independence and dream of self-growth, forming bonds with parents, and making economic sense. Type 2 included college students who believed that there was no true independence in the world, were skeptical about independence from parents, and were afraid of independence from parents. Type 3 comprised college students who wanted to become independent through the process of self-growth and employment. Type 4 were college students who wanted to become completely independent from their parents and who wanted to achieve complete independence from their parents. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide an in-depth understanding of the characteristics of each type and be used as basic data for the discussion on the independence and growth of college students in the future.
