초록
Affect is considered one of the key risk factors associated with perpetration of intimate partner violence(IPV). The Positive and Negative Affect Schedule(PANAS) has been widely used to assess affect. Although PANAS has traditionally been conceptualized as a two-factor model consisting of Positive Affect and Negative Affect, a bifactor model has been increasingly discussed as a factor structure of the PANAS. Therefore, this study explored the factor structure of the Revised Korean version of the PANAS(K-PANAS) using a bifactor model and examined whether the general factor and specific factors derived from the bifactor model predict dating violence perpetration. To achieve the study goals, 450 Korean adults aged 29 to 39 years were analyzed and Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling with Probit Regression were conducted. The results indicated that the bifactor model showed a better model fit than the one-factor and two-factor models. In addition, the general factor significantly predicted emotional and physical IPV perpetration, whereas the specific Negative Affect factor significantly predicted emotional violence, physical violence, and behavioral control. In contrast, the specific Positive Affect factor did not significantly predict any type of IPV perpetration. These findings suggest that understanding IPV perpetration requires consideration not only of negative affect but also of the general factor reflecting overall affective arousal.
